Empirically supported psychosocial treatments (ESTs) identified in the NICE guideline include group and individual parent-training programs, parent and child-training programs, and child-focused programs. Accordingly, we recommend that clinicians refer to this guideline when developing a plan for assessment and treatment of children with disruptive behaviour. CURRENT RECOMMENDED TREATMENTS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOURĪ recent systematic review of clinical practice guidelines for the assessment, prevention and treatment of disruptive behaviour identified the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline for ‘Antisocial behaviour and conduct disorders in children and young people’ as having a high-quality rating, meaning it was rigorously developed and has the potential to facilitate clinically significant improvements.
